"I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all families of the earth shall be blessed." Genesis 12:3
Russia is a good example of how God fulfills His promises. The Soviet Union is not known for blessing the Jews and yet they are one the the world's greatest powers. How can that be if God fulfills His promise in Genesis 12:3 to Abraham?
In Czarist Russia the government went on an all out war against the Jews who lived in Russia. The government instigated uprisings call pogroms. They murdered thousands of Jews as they sought to drive the Jews out of the land. Just as the Czars treated the Jews, the Communist of Russia treated the Czar and his followers. The Czar and his family were murdered. The properties of the Czarist was taken away and many of them murdered or exiled.
The Russian communist were atheist and the antisemitism continued. The Jews were oppressed and could not leave the country. They were captives of the government. World War II came and Russia helped to defeat Hitler who had killed six million Jews. Because Russia militarily aided in stopping Hitler and liberating the death camps, God blessed them militarily and they became a world power.
The Jews were still oppressed within Russia until the 1980's when they allowed the Jews the freedom to leave. It was also in the 1980's that Russia and Eastern Europe was released from the oppression of communism.
God keeps His promise to Abraham still today. If Russia were to come against Israel to destroy it, God will destroy Russian instead. If Russia should come along side of Israel to protect it, then God will come along side Russia and protect it.
"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."
Deuteronomy 7:9
