Rise Up Priest and Pray

“If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies.  And if they perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay.  If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.” - Charles Spurgeon

You are called to pray for the lost.  1 Timothy 2: 1-4 says. “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth”

God wants all men to be saved, and he calls upon us to pray for them.  Whose job is it to speak to God for those who cannot?   The priest is the one who goes before God and cries out for the people.  If you know Jesus as your personal savior, you are a priest according to 1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;”

The unsaved are not priest.  They do not have the same rights as you do to go before God.  You have the power of God within you.  You can reach God in ways they never could, without Christ.  Pray for them to have their eyes opened to the truth that salvation is found in Christ Jesus.  Pray that their hearts be softened to the good news of the Gospel.  If you don’t do it, who will?

  1. I like this, we have been given so much! But as it says in spiderman (and I hope I'm not totally misquoting this) "with great power comes great responsibility"
And you know, it is also really an honor and privilege to partner with God in the greatest rescue plan ever.
