We have Lost our Identities

In the Sunday, February 25th issue of the Cedar Rapids Gazette is a letter to the editor that I had written.  If you like this editorial comment, please feel free to copy and use it.  Perhaps send it to your newspaper.  I do not care if you take the credit for the letter or not.  It was something I believe God gave me so I can not take the credit.  It is 250 words long.

We have lost our identities

Humanity is quickly degenerating. Mass murder, violent crime, sexual crimes and deviations all are on the rise. Today people have no foundation or guidepost on which to live their lives.

Men no longer know how to be men, nor women how to be women. If you think you're a woman, be one and pay no attention to your physical body. Marriages have little commitment. Parents no longer know how to parent. Men don't know how a man is to act and women try to be like men. Who are we?

We live in a world of relativism where anything goes. There is no right or wrong. There are no boundaries of protection anymore except for the fluctuating morals of society. What is wrong today is fine tomorrow. How can we feel secure in a world that is constantly changing the rules?

We don't even know how to be human anymore. We have little empathy or love for others. Movies, TV, advertisements all scream at us that “I” am the center of the universe. I should enjoy my life even at the expense of others.

We can find a firm foundation and guide for who we are in the Bible, but God has been thrown out of our schools, the government, homes and many times even out of the church. If we want to find ourselves again we must seek out the person who created us. God lovingly made you and knows you. He alone can help us to find ourselves.
